Eduardo Fernandes happy to be back as Benfica B begin pre-season | OneFootball

Benfica B began pre-season on Monday at Benfica Campus, Seixal, with a 25-player group. Medicals and physical assessments opened day one and will be repeated on Tuesday morning, before the first pitch session at 16:30.

They finished 10th in last season’s II Liga. The current squad lists three goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders and six forwards, with Federico Coletta the only absentee as he is at the under-19 Euros with Italy.

Head coach Nélson Veríssimo starts his sixth consecutive season in charge, continuing Benfica’s pathway for young talent.

"É sempre bom. Estamos todos juntos outra vez, a ver-nos novamente, voltar à rotina, que nos faz muita falta, principalmente a mim. Agora é voltar ao trabalho, voltar ao foco e preparar a época", he told BTV.

Last season the 19-year-old winger split minutes across Benfica B, under-23s and under-19s, making 27 competitive appearances.

The B team have eight friendlies scheduled. Their first test is against Sintrense, from the Campeonato de Portugal, on Saturday 11 July at Benfica Campus.
