Eintracht Frankfurt are confident of signing Nottingham Forest forward Arnaud Kalimuendo on loan for the rest of the season. According to NY Times, the move would include an option to make the transfer permanent if completed.

Kalimuendo, 23, joined Forest in August and has made 13 appearances in all competitions. He is yet to start or score in the Premier League, with his last outing coming in the 1-0 defeat by Fulham on December 22.

He would be Frankfurt’s second forward arrival of January. With Elye Wahi allowed to join Nice after arriving in January 2025, they have already added Younes Ebnoultalib from Elversberg. The forward line is currently without Jonathan Burkardt and Michy Batshuayi due to injuries sustained before the winter break.

Forest spent more than £90 million in mid-August on three attacking additions, including Kalimuendo. James McAtee arrived from Manchester City for £30m and Omari Hutchinson from Ipswich for £37.5m.

They paid £26m to sign Kalimuendo from Rennes and believed in his potential, though chances have been limited under three managers. He has two goals in four Europa League games, while his league involvement amounts to eight substitute appearances.

In Forest’s most recent defeat to Everton, Sean Dyche instead turned to Taiwo Awoniyi from the bench. With Chris Wood expected to be sidelined for several weeks following knee surgery, Forest hope to bolster their attacking options in January. They are among the clubs interested in Wolves forward Jorgen Strand Larsen, although he is only one option.
