Manchester United Women star Ella Toone continued her fine Euro 2025 with a goal and two assists in England’s dominant 6-1 victory over Wales.
Toone scored England’s second in the 21st minute of play.
A mix up in the Welsh penalty box gifted Toone the chance to add her second goal of the tournament. She received the ball in the middle of the area and fired an effort at goal that was well blocked on the line.
Luckily, the ball bounced right back to her and she made no mistake on the second attempt.
Toone was at her threatening best and minutes later, helped find England’s third of the match.
On the half hour mark she ran down the wing and floated in a wonderful cross for Lauren Hemp to head home.
The United star demonstrated her creative talents once more as she ran onto a through ball from Lauren James and put the ball on a plate for Alessia Russo to slot in her side’s fourth on the stroke of half-time.
With the points and qualification secure, Toone was subbed off at half-time. The 25 year old completed 100% of her passes as the Welsh side could not get close to her the entire time she was on the pitch.
Having failed to start the first game of the tournament, she will have certainly secured a spot in the first eleven at the quarter final stage.
It was a very contrasting evening for Dominique Janssen and her Netherlands side as they lost 2-5 to France and were eliminated from the tournament.
She played the entire match at centre back and made seven clearances for her side.
The veteran was also competitive in the air, winning two out of her three aerial battles.
Janssen had 57 touches but could only complete 76% of her passes on the night. Her accuracy also let her down from range as she only made three of her 11 long ball attempts.
