Leeds United’s Elland Road redevelopment has stepped up, with new drone footage showing major West Stand work and pitch preparations.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the club moved quickly after the 2025/26 Premier League season, with long-term plans to lift capacity to 53,000 by redeveloping the North and West Stands, a project hoped to be fully complete by 2030.

The immediate focus is the West Stand, with work under way since late May and fresh images captured on Tuesday. Earlier footage showed Portakabins for visiting teams being removed and the ticket office partly demolished, and that building has now gone, with further progress on the banqueting suite at the rear.

About a third of the West Stand’s external structure has been knocked down, and the away fans’ tunnel in the same area has also been removed.

A temporary building behind the North Stand is taking shape and is expected to host corporate facilities during the redevelopment.

Inside the ground, the turf appears to have been lifted ahead of next season, while activity around the West Stand technical areas includes the dugouts being taken out and screening put up.

Work on the pitch and dugouts is due to finish before the new campaign, although chairman Paraag Marathe has warned of disruption through 2026/27 as the wider expansion continues. He said the ticket office has gone and some areas, including the chairman’s section, will experience interruptions to help avoid sacrificing seats during matches.
