Elliot Anderson’s suitors have been warned it would take a lot of money for Nottingham Forest to even consider a sale. Any bids next month are likely to be knocked back, although it could be a different story in the summer.
Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea have been linked, while Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has said he would love to take the academy graduate back to St James’ Park.
Forest signed the 23-year-old from the Magpies in summer 2024 for £35m, effectively £15m once Odysseas Vlachodimos moved the other way for £20m. The sale helped Newcastle meet Profit and Sustainability Rules and Anderson has since become a key Red and an England starter.
“I think we've seen in today's era that everyone has a number, but I think from Elliot Anderson's point of view he is thriving,” he said, speaking to 10bet. “He is now a leader in that (Forest) team. He's got himself into the England set-up.”
“Declan Rice goes for like £105 million from West Ham at probably a very similar point in his career to Elliot Anderson, if you know what I mean. So, you know, if Elliot went for less than £60 or £70 million, I'd be surprised.”
Head coach Sean Dyche has played down the noise, calling transfer talk part of the business and saying Forest also assess other clubs’ players. He wants Anderson to enjoy his football and notes the midfielder is still a young player.
