Ellyes Skhiri to captain Tunisia at World Cup as Rani Khedira earns call-up

According to BuLi News, Ellyes Skhiri will captain Tunisia at the World Cup after 101-cap Ferjani Sassi was omitted. Rani Khedira, Ismael Gharbi and Elias Saad are included in the 26-man squad.
Skhiri has 81 caps since debuting in 2018. The Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder featured in Tunisia’s last six World Cup matches across 2018 and 2022.
Khedira made his debut in the last international break after finalising his naturalisation at 32. His brother, Sami, won the World Cup with Germany in 2014.
Gharbi and Saad are contracted to Khedira’s former club Augsburg, with Saad currently on loan at promotion-chasing Hannover 96 in 2. Bundesliga. The final squad also includes former Hertha BSC centre-back Omar Rekik.
Louey Ben Farhat has been left out at his father’s request.
Tunisia have been drawn alongside Japan, Sweden and the Netherlands.
