Elye Wahi has joined OGC Nice on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt until the end of the season, the move being finalised on Thursday.
Nice have been clearing key issues, replacing Franck Haise with Claude Puel on Monday and seeing their Ultras end their boycott on Wednesday. According to L'Équipe, Nice will cover half of Wahi’s salary and there is no option to buy.
Wahi arrived in Nice on Wednesday evening, completed his medical on Thursday morning, then signed the paperwork. He is eligible to face Strasbourg on Saturday at 19:00.
The 22-year-old former France Under-21 international, developed at Montpellier, has 13 caps and 3 goals. He will wear the number 11.
He had previously featured for Lens and Marseille, leaving OM after half a season comprising 13 matches and 3 goals before moving to Frankfurt in January. He made 18 Bundesliga appearances without scoring, his only goal for Eintracht came in the German Cup.
Opportunities for minutes appear available at Nice, with Terem Moffi’s future uncertain, Kevin Carlos unconvincing in the first half of the season, and youngsters Bernard Nguene, 19, and Zoumana Diallo, 20, short on guarantees. Each party hopes he can rediscover the promise he showed in Ligue 1.
