Harry Maguire is ready to put pen to paper on a new deal with Manchester United as soon as the finer details are agreed upon.
The centre-half is one of a handful of Reds in the final four months of their contracts; Casemiro has already confirmed he will be leaving upon the expiration of his deal in June, while Jadon Sancho, currently on loan with Aston Villa, is expected to be released after five lacklustre years at the club.
Veteran shot-stopper Tom Heaton is also amongst the mix, although it’s anticipated he will be kept around for his influence on the squad and, in particular, the goalkeeping department, despite not making a competitive appearance since February 2023.

From the fans’ perspective, the prospect of losing two senior players in Casemiro and Maguire, both of whom still play such integral starting roles, is risky.
United are heading into the summer with the expectation that Michael Carrick will get the job done and secure Champions League qualification for 2026/2027, meaning depth will be crucial for whoever’s in the dugout come next season.
Now, it seems the club’s key decision makers are all in agreement that keeping Maguire, who Paul Scholes recently lauded for his ‘unbelievable character’, at Old Trafford is the best outcome for all parties.

MailSport revealed this week that the 32-year-old actually turned down an approach from Italian giants AC Milan in January, making it clear that his priority is staying put with United and extending his tenure beyond seven years.

TeamTalk reports that it’s ‘increasingly’ likely he gets his wish of fresh terms in M16 – even if it means reducing his wages, which are currently believed to be around £180,000 per week.
