Arsenal youngster Max Dowman is on a seemingly unstoppable rise through the ranks with club and country, recently becoming the Champions League’s youngest-ever player.
Away from north London, Dowman was playing for the England u17s up until recently, but his progress in pre-season with Arsenal ultimately earned him a promotion to the England u19s in September.
Even that seems a bit below the 15-year-old’s level, given how he performs every time he steps out onto the pitch for the Arsenal senior team. Another promotion to the England u21s may not be far off, according to u21 boss Lee Carsley.

“He’s a player that we’re monitoring,” Carsley said. “Sometimes that talent, we have to accelerate it so quickly because of the challenge they are getting at their clubs.
“It’s important that we keep in mind how young Max is and we are fully aware of him. We get all of the feedback from the camps that he plays on and there is definitely time. He’ll definitely get his chance within the Under-21s.”

Dowman won a penalty for the England u19s in a 2-0 win over Lithuania in midweek, holding off one player expertly, charging into the penalty area, and chopping past another defender before being brought down.
The referee had no hesitation in awarding the spot-kick, and Shumaira Mheuka stepped up to convert.
It’s likely the midfielder will be involved again over the next couple of u19 fixtures. England face Latvia on Saturday, November 15th at 10:00 GMT and Scotland on Tuesday, November 18th at 10:00 GMT.
With Scotland drawing against Latvia in the only other group game so far, England are two points clear at the top.
