Lee Carsley confirmed Archie Gray will play for England’s Under-21s against Moldova in Norwich on Tuesday night.
Gray did not feature in the 1-1 draw against Andorra on Friday with Carsley insisting it was important for the 20-year-old to have a rest after playing plenty of minutes for Tottenham of late.
“Archie will play,” Carsley said, speaking to Hayters.com ahead of the game against Moldova. “He’ll play.
“It was important that Archie, obviously, he’s going through a lot of minutes at Tottenham under severe pressure and high-pressure situations. So, it was important that we give him a bit of downtime, let him get his energy back and I feel he’s in a good position now.”

Carsley also hailed the way Gray has performed in difficult circumstances for Spurs, who are locked in a relegation fight.
“It’s very difficult,” he said. “I’ve had the experience of being relegated from the Premier League two years on the bounce.
“It’s not easy. You live and breathe it literally every minute of the day.
“And to be at a club like Tottenham, also, where the pressure will be immense with the new stadium and the training ground and the expectation, Archie has thrived in that environment and hopefully he can keep that up.”
