Gary Neville is still looking back at Chelsea’s game from Tuesday night, and has made some really strong points about what the Blues did wrong in their defeat.
According to him, the manager Enzo Maresca didn’t pick the right team and didn’t prepare those players who did start for the sort of game they were going to face.

“I think you go to Leeds United and, look, Leeds haven’t been great recently, but there has to be a little bit of understanding of what you may face. I didn’t think there was any of that from Chelsea. I think the coach made changes.
“He played a very young team, they’ve got young players anyway, but you know, Chalobah at right-back was awkward in terms of on the ball first half.
“Then a mountain of passes, a million passes in the back three that was driving me crazy. And you start off passing slowly. Don’t start a game bloody slowly. You’re playing for a top club, get the game moving, get the ball moving quickly, get your tempo and your passing, get your touch right.”
He’s totally right – it’s essential to get on the front foot and move the ball quickly, especially in a hostile environment like that. If you are passive and shuffle it from side to side, you just invite pressure and allow the crowd to get into it.
One Chelsea player who really disappointed in the game on Tuesday was Enzo Fernandez – he simply has to do better in games like this where we need him to step up and deliver.
Chelsea have been linked with yet another talented young wonderkid – in this case a brilliant teenage talent from Burkina Faso who is still 16 but is being chased by a number of top teams.
