Enzo Maresca: Napoli hold discussions with ex-Chelsea boss in London | OneFootball

Serie A side Napoli could yet end up looking for a new manager at the end of the campaign. Just so they are not caught unprepared, Aurelio de Laurentiis’ club have made initial contact for Enzo Maresca.

The ex-Chelsea boss has been without a club since his sacking from Stamford Bridge over four months ago. Fiorentina have also been linked with him, with Manchester City having appeared as the likeliest candidate.

Tuttomercatoweb report that Napoli officials held initial discussions with Maresca some days ago. This meeting took place in London, with the Partenopei having spoken to the former Blues boss about his candidacy as a replacement for Antonio Conte.

Maresca expressed interest and availability but it emerged that everything could depend on several other scenarios – particularly the one at Manchester City.

It will also depend on Conte himself. The Italian has received no offers to leave Napoli and wants to stay, as he earns a significant wage. He will hold discussions with De Laurentiis at the end of the campaign to know more about his future, amidst uncertainty about whether the club owner can meet Conte’s demands to refurbish the squad through significant investments.
