Enzo Maresca has confirmed there’s no way back at Chelsea for “bomb squad” duo Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi.
The pair were available all summer, but both ended up staying at Chelsea despite interest from clubs in the Premier League and Europe.
Sterling and Disasi are now unlikely to play any football until January at the earliest, which isn’t ideal for all parties involved.
Chelsea were able to sell a number of players who were surplus to requirements including Renato Veiga and Ben Chilwell.
It was always going to be difficult with Sterling given his preference was to remain in London, although three Premier League clubs were said to have shown interest.
Maresca has confirmed there’s no way back for Sterling at Chelsea.
Chelsea received no offers for Sterling on deadline day, whilst Disasi is said to have turned down three loan moves to Premier League clubs.
Disasi had even spoken of trying to force his way back into the picture at Chelsea, but Maresca has now confirmed that won’t happen.
“First of all, they are Chelsea players and have contracts with the club, but at this moment they are still training apart,” he said as quoted by The Standard.
“Since the start of the season, I haven’t seen them, I did see Renato Veiga [before he left], but they train on a different pitch at a different time.”
Maresca was then asked if there was any way back and simply replied:
“No.”
How likely Sterling is to find a suitor in January remains to be seen, but given he won’t have played any football since the end of last season they won’t be high.

The Blues will just be desperate to get his reported wages in excess of £300,000 per week of the books, and terminating his contract could be a possibility.
It’s thought Chelsea are reluctant to do that, but it’s an option that hasn’t yet been discussed between both parties.
