Erling Haaland's dream World Cup campaign continued on Sunday as the Norway striker inspired his side to a famous victory over Brazil, sending the Scandinavians through to the quarter-finals for the first time.

The Manchester City forward has now scored in all four of Norway's matches at the 2026 World Cup, taking his tally to seven goals and strengthening his position as one of the tournament's standout performers.

Those numbers have also earned Haaland a place alongside some of the greatest goalscorers in World Cup history. According to our records, he is the first player since Gerd Müller in 1970 to score at least seven goals in his first four World Cup appearances. The legendary German found the net eight times in his opening four matches during the tournament in Mexico.

Before Müller, only a handful of players had enjoyed such prolific starts to a World Cup career. Eusébio struck seven goals in his first four games for Portugal in 1966, while Just Fontaine (1958), Sándor Kocsis (1954), Ademir (1950) and Guillermo Stábile (1930) also reached the same remarkable milestone.

Haaland's latest goal also leaves him level with Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi at the top of the Golden Boot standings, with all three forwards sitting on seven goals heading into the quarter-finals.
