ESCLUSIVA AAF, Emil Salomonsson: “J-League campionato eccezionale! Punto sul Sanfrecce campione, felice di essere parte della storia dell’Avispa” | OneFootball

La J-League, nel corso della sua storia, ha sempre attirato tanti giocatori brasiliani fin dalla sua nascita, così come tanti sono stati e continuano ad essere tanti i giocatori sudcoreani che militano nelle squadre giapponesi. Tuttavia, negli ultimi anni si sta incrementando anche il numero di giocatori nordici presenti in J-League e che tanto bene stanno facendo come ad esempio i danesi Scholz dell’Urawa Red Diamonds e Kasper Junker del Nagoya Grampus oppure i norvegesi Marcus Hoibraten e Ola Solbakken sempre dell’Urawa.

Altri giocatori nordici in passato hanno fatto bene in J-League come ad esempio l’attaccante norvegese Ibba Laajab che noi di All Asian Football abbiamo intervistato qualche tempo fa e ciò ha attirato ulteriormente l’attenzione verso il Sol Levante. Di questo e non solo ne abbiamo parlato con Emil Salomonsson, ex giocatore dell’Avispa Fukuoka e del Sanfrecce Hiroshima oggi all’IFK Goteborg, che si è raccontato ai nostri microfoni circa la sua esperienza vissuta nella terra dei Samurai, svelandoci anche i motivi che lo hanno portato ad optare per il trasferimento in Giappone.

LA SCHEDA

Emil Salomonsson è nato il 28 aprile del 1989 a Orkelljunga, cittadina sita nella Svezia meridionale nella contea di Scania. Cresciuto calcisticamente nell’Ekets GoIF, nel 2004 a 14 anni è entrato nel settore giovanile dell’Angelholms FF che è divenuta così la squadra che lo ha lanciato a livello professionistico, aggregandolo alla prima squadra due anni dopo. Nel suo club, il terzino destro si mette in luce attirando su di sé gli sguardi di club di Allsvenskan, la massima serie di calcio svedese, come quelli di Goteborg, Helsingborg e soprattutto Halmstads che decide di ingaggiarlo dopo il provino.

Salomonsson firma per la sua nuova squadra nel 2008, ma resta un altro anno in prestito all’Angelholms per fare ulteriore esperienza in Superettan, la seconda divisione svedese. Il giocatore chiude con il campionato con ben 9 reti, numero impressionante per un difensore, ma Salomonsson ha sempre dimostrato di avere spiccate doti offensive, tanto che all’Halmstads, in una partita contro il Kalmar, viene addirittura schierato come attaccante. Nonostante segni meno, all’Halmstads il terzino si mette ulteriormente in luce e nel 2011 firma per il Goteborg con il quale esplode in maniera definitiva.

Con la maglia biancazzura, dopo un primo periodo di ambientamento e fatto da poche maglie da titolare, Salomonsson diventa inamovibile nell’undici di partenza dopo l’addio di Adam Johanson e pian piano anche leader della squadra. Spesso impiegato anche come ala destra, il terzino veste la maglia del Goteborg per ben 6 anni, debuttando anche nelle competizione europee, seppur solo nelle qualificazioni, trovando anche due reti e vincendo due Coppe di Svezia. In totale con il Goteborg totalizza più di 200 presenze e ben 22 reti prima di lasciare il club e la Svezia a zero e di optare per l’avventura orientale sbarcando al Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

L’esperienza in maglia viola parte come meglio non potrebbe per Salomonsson che segna al debutto contro lo Shimizu S-Pulse con uno straordinario destro al volo che vale l’1-1. In più, essendosi qualificato in AFC Champions League dopo aver chiuso il campionato al secondo posto l’anno prima, il Sanfrecce permette al terzino di debuttare ufficialmente in una fase a gironi di una competizione internazionale il 12 marzo 2019 nella vittoria casalinga per 2-1 contro gli australiani del Melbourne Victory.

Salomonsson veste la maglia viola solo per una stagione, ma il terzino non può non essere soddisfatto di quanto fatto in maglia viola e senza alcun rimpianto decide di lasciare il club, passando in prestito in J2 League all’Avispa Fukuoka. Il 2020 è un anno cruciale per le Vespe che ottengono la promozione in J1 League e pure Emil dà il suo contributo fornendo ben 10 assist e siglando 2 gol in 39 presenze. Un contributo che gli consente di essere riscattato dall’Avispa Fukuoka che decide di puntare su di lui anche per l’anno in J1 League.

Tornato in massima serie, l’apporto di Salomonsson è fondamentale per le Vespe soprattutto ad inizio stagione dove firma 3 gol e 3 assist nelle prime dieci giornate, per poi piazzarne altre 3 nel resto della stagione. L’Avispa Fukuoka, pur soffrendo, riesce ad ottenere la salvezza, cosa che difficilmente accadeva in passato ed assieme ai suoi compagni Emil entra dunque di diritto nella storia del club. Al termine della stagione, tuttavia, Salomonsson decide di tornare in patria al Goteborg dove tutto è iniziato per chiudere uno splendido cerchio di una carriera ricca di tante soddisfazioni, con la speranza di poter vincere un altro titolo prima di decidere di appendere gli scarpini al chiodo

L’INTERVISTA

Ciao Emil, siamo davvero felici di poter parlare con te. Prima di tutto, parlaci delle tue ambizioni con l’IFK Goteborg per la nuova stagione che non è iniziata bene con una sconfitta nella prima giornata di Allsvenskan contro il Djurgarden

“Le nostre ambizioni quest’anno sono di migliorare e di fare passi nella giusta direzione. Dobbiamo lavorare duramente ogni giorno per migliorare come squadra e come singoli. La prima partita è stata difficile, abbiamo iniziato bene ma quando un nostro giocatore è stato espulso al 27° minuto il momento è cambiato. Comunque, non sarebbe mai dovuta finire 1-4, ma sono sicuro che se avessimo giocato 11 contro 11 il risultato sarebbe stato diverso”.

Nell’ultima stagione, il Goteborg ha evitato la retrocessione nelle ultime partite. In generale, gli ultimi anni della tua squadra non sono stati buoni. Pensi che il club abbia le carte in regola per cambiare questa tendenza?

“Gli ultimi due anni sono stati difficili per il club e sappiamo che ci vuole molto duro lavoro per riportare l’IFK Göteborg al suo posto. Ciò che mi rende sicuro che le cose cambieranno è il massiccio sostegno e il crescente interesse per il club. L’anno scorso si è registrata la migliore media di presenze da quando è stata costruita l’arena nel 2009. Oltre 16.000 presenze medie, il che significa che ogni partita ha registrato il tutto esaurito. E questo durante una delle peggiori stagioni della storia del club. Quindi molte cose sono positive per l’IFK Göteborg in questo momento”.

Parliamo ora del tuo percorso in Giappone. Perché un giocatore come te nel 2019 ha scelto di giocare in Giappone e non in un altro campionato europeo? E perché hai scelto il Sanfrecce Hiroshima?

“Ero interessato a una nuova sfida, diversa da quelle che i giocatori scelgono normalmente. Il Giappone è sempre stato in cima alla mia lista di paesi che avrei voluto visitare. Quindi questo ha avuto un ruolo e anche la prestazione della squadra giapponese nella Coppa del Mondo 2018 ha avuto il suo peso. Ho pensato che avessero giocato bene e si fossero divertiti e questo mi ha incuriosito della J-league. Il Sanfrecce è un club ben organizzato e strutturato, con buone tradizioni. L’anno prima del mio arrivo si sono classificati al secondo posto, quindi l’ho vista come una grande opportunità di giocare per una delle migliori squadre del campionato”.

Con il Sanfrecce Hiroshima hai segnato al tuo debutto e hai fatto bene con la maglia viola. Qual è il tuo ricordo più bello con il Sanfrecce?

“Il primo gol è sicuramente un bel ricordo, come anche la vittoria contro il Kobe in trasferta. Ma il mio preferito in assoluto è la partita della pace, ne fanno sempre una ogni anno. Credo che sia la partita in casa che si gioca più vicino al 6 agosto. La partita viene giocata in memoria di coloro che hanno perso la vita a causa della bomba atomica. E per me partecipare a quella partita è stata la cosa più grande che abbia mai fatto”.

A Hiroshima ti sei allenato sotto la guida di Hiroshi Jofuku che ora è l’allenatore del Tokyo Verdy che nell’ultima stagione ha conquistato la promozione in J1 League dopo 15 anni. Jokufu è un allenatore molto rispettato in Giappone. Dal punto di vista tattico, cosa ne pensi di lui? Ti piace il suo stile di gioco?

“Il suo stile è molto chiaro e tutti i giocatori sanno cosa fare, è bravo a tirare fuori il meglio dai giocatori. Ha fatto un ottimo lavoro con il Verdy e sono contento per lui, gli auguro il meglio. Penso che abbia giocato un calcio entusiasmante nel Sanfrecce. E molti giovani giocatori che hanno avuto la possibilità di giocare sotto la sua guida sono ora titolari nel Sanfrecce o in altri club. Osako, Araki, Higashi, Morishima, Kawabe, Asano”.

Nel 2020 ti sei trasferito all’Avispa Fukuoka in prestito in J2 League per poi unirti a loro definitivamente nel 2021. Nell’ultima stagione l’Avispa ha vinto la sua prima YBC Levain Cup, il primo titolo della sua storia. Per quanto riguarda il Sanfrecce, qual è il tuo ricordo più bello a Fukuoka?

“La promozione in J1 e il fatto che abbiamo rotto la maledizione e siamo riusciti a rimanere in J1. Sono felice di aver contribuito a cambiare la storia dell’Avispa. Ora il club sta vivendo il momento migliore della sua storia”.

Negli ultimi anni sono arrivati in Giappone molti giocatori nordici, il che significa che il fascino della J-League sta crescendo. Cosa ne pensi?

“Mi rende felice. La J-League è fantastica, emozionante e tecnica. Penso che sia davvero divertente guardare le partite e anche il livello è piuttosto alto!”.

Segui ancora la J-League? Chi vincerà il titolo in questa stagione?

“Sì, la seguo. La seguo molto. Guardo un paio di partite ogni settimana. Quest’anno la mia vecchia squadra, il Sanfrecce, sembra molto forte. Penso che Kobe sarà bravo anche quest’anno e i Marinos giocano sempre bene, anche se sono un po’ incerto sul nuovo allenatore. Ma scommetto che il Sanfrecce sarà campione e che l’Avispa finirà tra le prime 10!”.

Due domande difficili: meglio Hiroshima o Fukuoka? Cosa ti piace di più della cultura giapponese?

“È impossibile rispondere. Amo entrambi i luoghi e i club. Auguro a entrambi di avere successo in futuro. Ciò che mi piace di più della cultura giapponese è l’ospitalità e la gentilezza della gente. Mi hanno sempre trattato con la massima gentilezza e non posso che dire bene dei giapponesi”.

AAF EXCLUSIVE, Emil Salomonsson: “J-League outstanding championship! I bet on the triumph of Sanfrecce, happy to be part of Avispa history”

The J-League, throughout its history, has always attracted many Brazilian players since its inception, just as many South Korean players have been and continue to be in Japanese teams. However, in recent years there has also been an increase in the number of Nordic players in the J-League who are doing so well, such as the Danes Scholz ofUrawa Red Diamonds and Kasper Junker of Nagoya Grampus , or the Norwegians Marcus Hoibraten and Ola Solbakken, also of Urawa.

Other Nordic players have done well in the J-League in the past, such as Norwegian striker Ibba Laajab, whom we at All Asian Football interviewed some time ago, and this has attracted further attention to the Rising Sun. We spoke about this and more with Emil Salomonsson, former Avispa Fukuoka and Sanfrecce Hiroshima player now at IFK Goteborg, who spoke to our microphones about his experience in the land of the Samurai, also revealing the reasons that led him to opt for a move to Japan.

THE PROFILE

Emil Salomonsson was born on 28 April 1989 in Orkelljunga, a town in southern Sweden in the county of Scanai. Growing up in Ekets GoIF, he joined the youth sector of Angelholms FF in 2004 at the age of 14, which then became the team that launched him into the professional ranks, joining the first team two years later. At his club, the right-back made a name for himself, attracting the attention of clubs in the Allsvenskan, the top division of Swedish football, such as Goteborg, Helsingborg and especially Halmstads, who decided to sign him after the audition.

Salomonsson signed for his new club in 2008, but stayed another year on loan at Angelholms to gain further experience in Superettan, the Swedish second division. The player ended the championship with an impressive nine goals, an impressive number for a defender, but Salomonsson always proved to have strong offensive skills, so much so that at Halmstads, in a game against Kalmar, he was even deployed as a striker. Despite scoring less, at Halmstads the full-back showed himself further and in 2011 he signed for Gothenburg, with whom he exploded for good.

With the white and blue jersey, after an initial period of acclimatisation and made up of a few starting jerseys, Salomonsson became irreplaceable in the starting eleven after Adam Johanson’s departure and gradually became the team’s leader. Often also employed as a right winger, the full-back wore the Goteborg jersey for six years, even making his debut in European competitions, albeit only in the qualifiers, also finding two goals and winning two Swedish Cups. In total with Goteborg he made more than 200 appearances and scored 22 goals before leaving the club and Sweden for zero and opting for an eastern adventure by joining Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

The experience in a purple jersey got off to the best possible start for Salomonsson, who scored on his debut against Shimizu S-Pulse with an extraordinary right-footed volley that made it 1-1. What’s more, having qualified in the AFC Champions League after finishing second in the league the year before, Sanfrecce allows the full-back to officially make his debut in a group stage of an international competition on 12 March 2019 in the 2-1 home win over Australian side Melbourne Victory.

Salomonsson only wore the purple jersey for one season, but the full-back could not be dissatisfied with what he did in the purple jersey and without any regrets decided to leave the club, moving on loan to Avispa Fukuoka in the J2 League. 2020 was a crucial year for Vespe, who gained promotion to the J1 League, and Emil also made his contribution by providing 10 assists and scoring 2 goals in 39 appearances. A contribution that allowed him to be redeemed by Avispa Fukuoka, who decided to bet on him for the year in the J1 League.

Back in the top flight, Salomonsson’s contribution was fundamental for the Wasps, especially at the start of the season where he scored 3 goals and made 3 assists in the first ten matches, and then scored 3 more in the rest of the season. Avispa Fukuoka, despite suffering, managed to obtain salvation, something that hardly happened in the past, and together with his team-mates Emil therefore entered the club’s history by right. At the end of the season, however, Salomonsson decided to return home to Gothenburg, where it all began, to close a splendid circle of a career full of many satisfactions, hoping to win another title before deciding to hang up his boots.

Hi Emil, we are so happy to speak with you! First of all, tell us your ambitions with IFK Goteborg for the new season that hasnt’t started good with the defeat on the first game of Allsvenskan against Djurgarden.

“Our ambitions this year is to improve and to take steps in the right direction. We need to work hard everyday to become better as a team and as individuals. The first game was a tough one, we started well but when our player was sent off in the 27th minute the momentum changed. Still, it should never finish 1-4 anyway but I’m sure that if we would have played 11 v 11 the outcome would have been different”.

In the last season, Goteborg avoided the relegation in the last games. In general, the last few years of your team haven’t been good, You think that the club has what it takes to change this trend?

“The last couple of years have been tough for the club and we know that it takes a lot of hard work to get IFK Göteborg back to where the club belong. What makes me sure that it will turn around is the massive support and growing interest for the club. Last year was the best average attendance since the arena was built 2009. Over 16 000 average attendance which basically means that it was sold out every game. And that was during on of the worst seasons in the clubs history. So a lot of things is positive around IFK Göteborg at the moment”.

Now let’s speak of your journey in Japan. Why a player like you in 2019 chose to play in Japan and not in another european league? And why you chose Sanfrecce Hiroshima?

“I was interested in a new challenge and a different one from what players normally choose. I always had Japan top on my bucket list of countries I would love to visit. So that played a part and the Japanese team in World Cup 2018 performance also had its part. I thought they played well and fun and it made me curious of J-league. Sanfrecce is a well organized and structured club with good traditions. The year before I came they finished 2nd so I saw it as a great opportunity to play for one of the best teams in the league”.

With Sanfrecce Hiroshima you scored on your debut and you did well the purple jersey. What is your best memory with Sanfrecce?

“The first goal is for sure a great memory, when we won against Kobe away is another one. But my absolute favorite is the peace game, they always have one peace game every year. I think it’s the home game that’s played closest to 6th of August. The game is played in memory for those who lost their life’s in the atomic bomb. And for me to be involved in that game was the biggest thing”.

In Hiroshima you trained under Hiroshi Jofuku that now he is the coach of Tokyo Verdy who conquered the promotion in J1 League after 15 years in the last season. Jokufu is a very respected coach in Japan. From a tactic point of view, what do you think of him? Do you like his game style?

“His style is very clear and all the players know what to do, he is good at getting the best out of the players. He’s done amazingly with Verdy and I’m happy for him, I wish him all the best. I think he played exciting football in Sanfrecce. And many young players that got a chance to play under him are now regulars in Sanfrecce or other clubs. Osako, Araki, Higashi, Morishima, Kawabe, Asano”.

In the 2020, you moved to Avispa Fukuoka on loan in J2 League and then join them permanently on 2021. In the last season Avispa won his first YBC Levain Cup, the first title of his history. As for Sanfrecce, what is your best memory in Fukuoka?

“The promotion to J1 and the fact that we broke the curse and managed to stay in J1. I’m so happy that I was a part of changing the history in Avispa. Now the club is experiencing the best time in the history of the club”.

In the last years a lot of nordic players came to Japan, that means that J-League appeal is growing. What do you think of it?

“It makes me happy. J-league is awesome, exciting and technically. I think it’s truly fun to watch the games and the level is quite high as well!”.

Are you still following the J-League? Who will win the title this season?

“I do. I follow it a lot. I watch a couple of games every week. This year my old team Sanfrecce looks very strong. I think Kobe will be good this year too and Marinos always plays well (I’m a little uncertain of the new coach though). But my bet is Sanfrecce for champion and that Avispa will finish top 10!”.

Two difficult question: better Hiroshima or Fukuoka? What do you like at the most about japanese culture?

“That’s impossible. I love both places and clubs. I wish them both all success in the future. What I like the most about the culture is the hospitality and kindness of the people. They always treated me with the utmost kindness and I have nothing but the best to say about Japanese people”.

Jリーグはその歴史を通じて、発足当初から常に多くのブラジル人選手を惹きつけてきた。日本のチームに多くの韓国人選手が在籍し、今も在籍し続けているのと同じように。しかし近年は、浦和レッドダイヤモンズのデンマーク人FWショルツや 名古屋グランパスの カスパー・ユンカー 、同じく浦和のノルウェー人FW マーカス・ホイブラテンや オラ・ソルバッケンなど、Jリーグで活躍する北欧出身の選手も増えている。

北欧の選手は過去にもJリーグで好成績を残しており、例えばノルウェーのストライカー、イバ・ラジャブは以前オールアジアフットボールでインタビューしたことがある。元アビスパ福岡、元サンフレッチェ広島で現在はIFKイェーテボリに所属するエミール・サロモンソンが 、サムライの国での経験や、日本への移籍を選んだ理由についてマイクを握ってくれた。

アダム・ヨハンソンの退団後、サロモンソンは先発イレブンの中で代えのきかない存在となり、次第にチームのリーダーとなっていった。しばしば右ウイングとしても起用されたこのフルバックは、6年間ヨーテボリのジャージを着てプレーし、予選のみではあったが、欧州大会デビューも果たし、2ゴールを挙げ、2つのスウェーデン・カップを獲得した。その後、クラブとスウェーデンを離れ、サンフレッチェ広島に移籍。

デビュー戦となった清水エスパルス戦では、右足のボレーシュートで1-1のゴールを決めた。さらに、前年のリーグ戦2位でAFCチャンピオンズリーグ出場権を獲得したサンフレッチェは、2019年3月12日、ホームでオーストラリアのメルボルン・ビクトリーに2-1で勝利し、このフルバックが国際大会のグループステージで正式にデビューすることを許可した。

サロモンソンが紫のジャージに袖を通したのは1シーズンだけだったが、フルバックは紫のジャージでの活躍に満足することなく、悔いなくクラブを去ることを決断し、J2リーグのアビスパ福岡にレンタル移籍した。2020年は、J1リーグに昇格したヴェスペにとって重要な年であり、エミルも39試合に出場して10アシスト2ゴールを記録し、貢献した。この貢献により、アビスパ福岡はエミルにJ1リーグでの1年間を賭けることを決めた。

トップリーグに戻ったサロモンソンの貢献は、ワスプスにとって基本的なものであった。特にシーズン開幕当初は、最初の10試合で3ゴール・3アシスト、残りのシーズンでも3ゴールを記録した。アビスパ福岡は苦しみながらも、過去にはほとんどなかった救いの手を差し伸べることに成功し、エミルはチームメイトとともにクラブの歴史にその名を刻んだ。しかし、シーズン終了後、サロモンソンはすべてが始まったヨーテボリに戻り、多くの満足に満ちたキャリアの素晴らしい輪を閉じることにした。

こんにちは、エミル！オールスベンスカン初戦のユールガルデン戦で敗れるなど、あまり良いスタートを切れていない新シーズンに向けて、まずはIFKイェテボリでの抱負を聞かせてください。

「私たちの今年の抱負は、向上心を持ち、正しい方向に一歩一歩進んでいくことです。チームとして、また個人として、より良くなるために日々努力する必要がある。初戦はタフな試合だった。出だしは良かったが、27分にうちの選手が退場になり、流れが変わってしまった。それでも、いずれにせよ1-4で終わることはないはずだが、もし11対11で戦っていたら、結果は変わっていただろう」。

昨シーズン、ヨーテボリは最終節で降格を免れた。一般的に、ここ数年のあなたのチームの成績は芳しくありませんでしたが、クラブにはこの流れを変えるだけの力があると思いますか？

「ここ数年、クラブにとって厳しい状況が続いており、IFKイェーテボリをクラブのあるべき姿に戻すには多くのハードワークが必要であることは分かっている。クラブがあるべき姿に戻るには、大変な努力が必要であることは分かっている。昨年は2009年にアリーナが建設されて以来、最高の平均観客動員数を記録した。平均観客動員数は16,000人を超え、これは基本的に毎試合完売だったことを意味する。しかもそれは、クラブ史上最悪のシーズン中だった。だから、現在IFKイェーテボリを取り巻く多くのことはポジティブだ」。

では、あなたの日本での歩みについてお話ししましょう。2019年のあなたのような選手が、なぜ他のヨーロッパのリーグではなく、日本でプレーすることを選んだのでしょうか？また、なぜサンフレッチェ広島を選んだのですか？

“僕は新しいチャレンジに興味があったし、普通の選手が選ぶのとは違うものに興味があった。日本には行ってみたい国のバケットリストの上位にいつも入っていたんだ。ワールドカップ2018の日本チームのパフォーマンスもその一因だった。彼らのプレーは良く、楽しいと思ったし、Jリーグに興味を持つようになった。サンフレッチェは組織化された、伝統のあるクラブだ。私が来る前の年は2位だったので、リーグで最高のチームのひとつでプレーできる絶好のチャンスだと思いました」。

サンフレッチェ広島ではデビュー戦で得点を決め、紫のジャージもよく着こなしていましたね。サンフレッチェでの一番の思い出は？

「アウェイの神戸戦で勝ったこともいい思い出です。でも一番好きなのは平和の試合。8月6日に一番近いホームゲームだと思う。この試合は、原爆で命を落とした人々を追悼するために行われる。その試合に参加できたことは、私にとって最大の出来事だった」。

広島では城福浩監督のもとで修行し、昨シーズンは15年ぶりにJ1昇格を果たした東京ヴェルディの監督に就任しましたね。城福監督は日本でとても尊敬されている監督です。戦術の観点から、あなたは彼をどう思いますか？彼のゲームスタイルは好きですか？

「彼のスタイルはとても明確で、選手たちはみな何をすべきかを理解している。彼はヴェルディで素晴らしい結果を残した。彼はサンフレッチェでエキサイティングなサッカーをしていたと思う。そして、彼の下でプレーするチャンスを得た多くの若い選手が、今ではサンフレッチェや他のクラブでレギュラーになっている。大迫、荒木、東、森島、川辺、浅野」。

2020年にJ2リーグのアビスパ福岡にレンタル移籍し、2021年に完全移籍。最後のシーズン、アビスパはYBCルヴァンカップで史上初のタイトルを獲得しました。サンフレッチェとしては、福岡での一番の思い出は？

「J1に昇格したこと、そして呪縛を解いてJ1に残留できたこと。アビスパの歴史を変える一翼を担えたことを本当に嬉しく思っています。今、クラブはクラブ史上最高の時を経験している」。

ここ数年、多くの北欧選手が来日し、Jリーグの魅力が高まっています。あなたはそれをどう思いますか？

「嬉しいですね。Jリーグは素晴らしくて、エキサイティングで、技術もある。試合を見ていて本当に楽しいし、レベルもかなり高いと思います」。

あなたはまだJリーグを追いかけていますか？今シーズンのタイトルは誰が獲得するのでしょうか？

「見ています。よく見ています。毎週2、3試合は見ています。今年は古巣のサンフレッチェが強そうですね。神戸は今年も強いと思うし、マリノスはいつもいいプレーをする。でも、僕はサンフレッチェが優勝して、アビスパがトップ10に入ることに賭けるよ！」。

2つの難問：広島と福岡のどちらが良いか？日本文化の中で何が一番好きか？

「それは無理だね。どちらの場所もクラブも大好きです。両方の成功を祈っています。日本の文化で一番好きなのは、人々のホスピタリティと優しさです。いつも親切にしてくれたし、日本人については最高の言葉しかない」。
