Santos attacking midfielder Evelin Bonifácio has been called up to the Brazil women’s senior squad for the FIFA Series, replacing Jheniffer of Tigres (MEX), who has a plantar fascia injury to her left foot. The Sereias da Vila player steps up from youth duty.
According to Diario Do Peixe, Evelin had been with Brazil’s under-20s in Kansas for friendlies against the United States during this international window. She is returning to Brazil and will head straight to Cuiabá, where the senior squad are based.
The under-20 fixtures are scheduled for Saturday 11 at CPKC Stadium, then Wednesday 15 at Riverside Stadium in the Kansas City Current complex.
The FIFA Series is a FIFA-backed event supporting member federations to stage international friendlies between four teams from different confederations in one host nation.
In Brazil, matches will be played at Arena Pantanal in Cuiabá, with South Korea, Zambia and Canada joining the hosts. Brazil will host the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
Santos recently renewed Evelin’s contract. She debuted for the first team last year and remains in Caio Couto’s squad, scoring her first senior goal in the draw at Botafogo in Rio, with Atlético-MG next up on 20 April.
