Everton have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign winger Tyrique George in a deal worth up to £30 million, with the move now subject to personal terms and a medical.

The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Goodison Park, where he did enough to convince David Moyes that he should become a permanent part of the club’s plans.

Everton have renegotiated the structure of the transfer after initially holding an option to buy the England Under-21 international.

The Merseyside club will pay an initial £24m, with a further £6m dependent on performance-related bonuses linked to appearances and European qualification.

Chelsea have also secured a 15 per cent sell-on clause as part of the agreement.

George made 11 appearances during his loan spell after arriving in January.

Although he started only once, his energy and willingness to work without the ball left a strong impression on Moyes and his coaching staff.

The Everton manager praised the winger’s attitude following the end of last season.

Moyes described George as “an excellent boy” with an “excellent work-rate” after the youngster adapted well to senior football.

The permanent move represents another significant step in George’s career after progressing through Chelsea’s academy.

He had long been regarded as one of the club’s most promising attacking prospects but found first-team opportunities difficult to secure at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea had been open to selling the winger for some time.

RB Leipzig explored a move last summer, while Fulham came close to completing a £22m deal on transfer deadline day in September 2025 before negotiations collapsed.

Everton have now moved decisively to secure his services after seeing enough during his loan spell.

George is set to become Everton’s second signing of the summer transfer window.

The club have already completed the transfer of midfielder Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough in a deal worth an initial £16m.

German midfielder Merlin Rohl has also joined permanently after a successful loan spell from SC Freiburg.

Meanwhile, experienced duo Idrissa Gana Gueye and Seamus Coleman departed the club following the expiry of their contracts.

Everton’s early transfer business reflects the club’s desire to refresh the squad following a stable finish under Moyes last season.

George is expected to provide greater competition in the wide attacking positions and arrives with considerable room for further development.

Chelsea, meanwhile, continue trimming their squad while ensuring they retain a financial interest in one of their academy graduates through the agreed sell-on clause.

If the remaining formalities are completed as expected, George will begin pre-season as a permanent Everton player ahead of the new campaign.
