Everton have reached an agreement with Arsenal to sign Christian Norgaard in a deal worth £7 million, with the experienced midfielder now closing in on a move to the Merseyside club.
According to Sky Sports News, the two Premier League clubs have finalised terms for the transfer of the 32-year-old, who is expected to leave Arsenal just one year after arriving from Brentford.
Norgaard joined the Gunners last summer in a deal worth an initial £10m, plus add-ons, but struggled to establish himself as a regular in Mikel Arteta’s title-winning side. The Denmark international made 20 appearances in all competitions during the 2025-26 campaign, including just seven in the Premier League.
The move would see Everton add valuable top-flight experience to their midfield following the departure of Idrissa Gueye, whose contract expired last week.
Norgaard is poised to become the club’s fourth signing of the summer as Everton continue to reshape their squad ahead of the new season. Hayden Hackney arrived earlier in a deal worth around £24m, while Tyrique George and Merlin Rohl also completed permanent moves to Merseyside.
For Arsenal, Norgaard’s departure would further streamline a midfield that already boasts strong competition for places. Although the Dane was valued for his leadership and experience, opportunities proved limited during his only season in north London.
Everton, meanwhile, believe the midfielder’s Premier League pedigree can help fill the void left by Gueye’s exit. Norgaard spent six seasons at Brentford before joining Arsenal and has built a reputation as a reliable defensive midfielder with strong positional awareness and leadership qualities.
The deal is now expected to progress towards completion, with Norgaard on the verge of becoming Everton’s latest addition before the start of the new Premier League campaign.
