Everton have signed Chelsea winger Tyrique George (19) on loan for the rest of the season, with the option to make the move permanent in the summer, BBC Sport have reported.

The 19-year-old had attracted interest from another Premier League club and a side in Europe, but Everton moved quickly to secure the deal. George is a graduate of Chelsea’s academy and has made 37 senior appearances for the club, scoring six goals.

He has featured four times in the Premier League this season, all as a substitute.

George said Everton’s supporters and manager David Moyes played a big part in his decision to join. “The fans here are really passionate, and they like hard work, which is what I want to show,” he said. “The gaffer was another big reason. He’s an amazing manager, and I’m looking forward to learning from him and improving.”

The move comes at a key time for Everton, after Moyes revealed that Manchester City loanee Jack Grealish is likely to miss the rest of the season and may require surgery on a fractured foot.

George becomes Everton’s second signing of the January transfer window. Midfielder Merlin Röhl joined earlier this month from Freiburg on a season-long loan deal, which includes an obligation to buy in 2026.

Everton will hope George can make an immediate impact as they look to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the campaign.
