Fresh reports suggest Tyler Dibling’s brief stint at Everton is already on the rocks. Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that the 19-year-old winger is weighing up a move. He seeks a departure when the summer window opens.

Moyes’ Ultimatum: Dibling Eyes Goodison Exit

This comes on the heels of a public roasting from manager David Moyes. Moyes recently told the teenager to pull his finger out after dropping him for January loan signing Tyrique George. Brown claims Moyes feels sucked in by the early hype around Dibling. He believes the player lacks the grit to knock established starters out of the lineup.

“Moyes was spot on with his comments about Dibling,” Brown told Football Insider.

“They’ve brought in a new winger, so he needs to show why he deserves to be in the team ahead of him, because he hasn’t been doing that so far.

“I’ve never been totally convinced by him, I think he’s still got improvements to make before he can be a Premier League player, and he isn’t showing me any different.

“Moyes was crying out for a bit of flair in his team and they got sucked into bringing him in on that basis, but he doesn’t seem like the type of player to really apply himself.

“Now, the question is about what type of character he is, will he take those comments and use them to fuel him or will he feel hard done by? That will be key.

“If he’s not the right type, he may well look for a move away from Everton because it’s clear he’s not going to play a big part under Moyes.

“I don’t think Everton would necessarily be adverse to that, even on a loan deal where he could go and play more regularly and come back ready to make an impact.

“But unless he does as Moyes said and pulls his finger out, I don’t see how he has a role to play at Everton and in the team as it is.”

A Clash of Styles on Merseyside

As of February 10, 2026, the numbers look bleak for the England U21 international. Dibling made a £35m move from Southampton last August. Since then, he hasn’t managed a single goal or assist in 13 Premier League games. He has only made four starts, accumulating just 349 minutes of league football.

Fans were excited about his dribbling skills at first, but the reality hasn’t lived up to the billing. Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye have a lock on the wing positions. On top of that, Tyrique George has hit the ground running on loan from Chelsea. This has pushed Dibling even further into the shadows.

The heart of the problem is a total mismatch between the player and his boss. Moyes openly says he wants Dibling to get angry, yet he calls the winger a quiet boy who gets bullied physically. Everton currently sit 8th and hunt for a European spot. Because of that, the Scot values hard work and directness over fancy footwork. This leaves Dibling out in the cold.

Can the Toffees afford to let him go?

Dibling is tied down until June 2029. Consequently, a permanent sale would likely mean a massive financial hit. Still, keeping a rising talent on the bench helps nobody. A season-long loan looks like the best move for everyone. It would let Dibling find his spark again, away from the pressure cooker of Everton. A summer split seems inevitable unless the youngster suddenly finds the mean streak Moyes wants. He must step up in these final months of the 2025/26 season.
