Everton were defeated 3-0 at home to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Toffees should have drawn first blood inside three minutes, but Pedro Porro blocked Jack Grealish’s goal-bound effort.

Spurs took the lead in the 19th minute through a well-worked corner kick, which defender Micky van de Ven converted.

Jake O’Brien thought he had equalised for Everton in the 24th minute with a thumping header from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s corner, but his effort was ruled offside.

Rodrigo Bentancur missed a chance to give Spurs a two-goal cushion, firing a shot wide of the left post.

Deep into first-half stoppage time, Van de Ven made it 2-0 with a glancing header from Porro’s in-swinging corner.

Five minutes after the restart, goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario made a superb stop to prevent Beto from pulling one back for the hosts.

Richarlison squandered an opportunity to add to Spurs’ lead in the 64th minute, firing his effort straight at Pickford in a one-on-one situation.

Vicario made another superb stop to prevent Iliman Ndiaye’s deflected shot from hitting the bottom-left corner.

Substitute Pape Matar Sarr sealed the victory for Tottenham with a precise header just before full-time.

Tottenham have picked up 13 points from five away league games this season – the best record in the Premier League.
