Evertton Araújo has emerged as a regular under Leonardo Jardim at Flamengo after injuries and suspensions to Erick Pulgar and Jorginho. The 23-year-old academy graduate has seized his chance.

Since Jardim arrived, Araújo has featured five times and started in four of those matches. According to Coluna Do Fla, that involvement reflects the coach’s growing confidence in him.

After the derby against Fluminense on Sunday 12, Jardim praised the midfielder, saying he had told him opportunities would come and urged him to keep the ball and play forward. The coach highlighted his physical capacity, duel strength and recent consistency, calling him hard-working, humble and a model for young players.

Inside the club, staff and senior team-mates view Araújo as learning quickly from more experienced players. His discipline has been noted within Flamengo’s football department.

Off the pitch, his form has been rewarded with a four-year agreement with Adidas. The deal includes exclusive boots and other products, positioning him as a prospect for the brand internationally.

Araújo remains focused on Flamengo’s next test, against Indepediente Medellín (COL) in the second round of the Libertadores group stage at the Maracanã on Thursday 16, kicking off at 21h30 Brasília time.
