The most transitory deadline day ever has come to a close as the first of two transfer windows for Premier League clubs has closed.
In case you weren’t aware, Fifa split this summer’s window in two to allow teams participating in the Club World Cup to sign new players over a ten-day period. The market will be back open for business on 16 June.
Tuesday was not exactly a hive of activity, although Chelsea did their best to liven it up by trying to sign up to four players before the deadline, ending up with only one. There was, though, one last minute deal confirmed as Manchester City landed one of their key targets, Rayan Cherki.
Here are the six deals that Premier League sides got over the line, in chronological order and correct at the time of publishing.
The Scottish right-back’s injury-plagued time at Arsenal has come to an end and he will return to the club from whence he came, Celtic, reuniting with manager Brendan Rodgers on a five-year deal.
The midfielder has followed in the footsteps of his older brother, Jude, by jumping from the Championship to Borussia Dortmund. Newly promoted Sunderland have bagged their biggest ever transfer fee for a player and ensured they will receive 15 percent of any profit made on a future sale.
The former Fulham backup goalkeeper has left Chelsea to replace Scott Carson at Manchester City in what might be the cushiest number in the Premier League.
Following loan spells at Reading, Wycombe Wanderers and Charlton Athletic, Welsh winger Chem Campbell returns to League One with Stevenage. The Boro finished 14th in the third tier last season.
Playmaker Rico Richards leaves Aston Villa to return to Port Vale, where he spent last season on loan, helping the club earn promotion to League One. The move will officially go through on July 1.
After giving up on Florian Wirtz, Man City have landed an attacking midfielder to replace Kevin De Bruyne, snapping up Rayan Cherki at a snip. The France international is the club’s third signing of the transfer window so far after Rayan Ait-Nouri and Bettinelli.
City could still get a deal for AC Milan midfielder Tijani Reijnders over the line if they provided a deal sheet before 5pm.
