Former AC Milan and Inter defender Fulvio Collovati has criticized high-performing Nerazzurri manager Cristian Chivu.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, Collovati also delivered his verdict on the Serie A title race.
Indeed, Inter have opened a huge ten-point gap between themselves and second-placed Milan in the standings.
Though the Rossoneri could whittle down the deficit in Sunday’s Milan derby, it’s hard to imagine Chivu’s side losing the race.
Despite bowing out of the Champions League in the first knockout round, the 45-year-old is heading toward a massive success this term.
In addition to being on the verge of a 21st Scudetto, Inter could also win a landmark 10th Coppa Italia crown.
However, it’s not a foregone conclusion, especially after a disappointing performance against Como in the first leg of their semi-final tie.
Cesc Fabregas’ side held the Nerazzurri to a 0-0 draw at home, meaning there will be everything to play for in the return fixture at San Siro.

Asked what he expects from Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina, Collovati replied: “I’m not a prophet and I can’t tell you who will win, but I expect an attacking game from Inter and a cautious approach from Milan.
“Just like in the first leg. But that doesn’t mean the result will be the same. Lautaro’s absence matters, but Chivu has other options. And Milan can strike with its weapons, starting with Pulisic.”
Meanwhile, Collovati believes the outcome of the upcoming showdown won’t affect Inter’s position in the standings.
“The Scudetto is decided anyway. It’s already Inter’s. With full merit, I might add.”
However, he blasted Chivu over his recent remarks.
“That is incomprehensible,” Collovati added. “I didn’t appreciate his communication style in recent weeks, even though I had respected it before.
“First, the staunch defense of Bastoni, who admitted his own mistake. Now he claims that his Inter doesn’t get credit for certain results.
“But what did he expect – applause after being eliminated by Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League? Come on.”
Furthermore, he insists this season would still be a success even if Inter fail to win the Coppa Italia trophy.
“Positive. Very positive. If you bring home a trophy, you’ve achieved a goal. And the Italian league is never easy.”
