Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan and forward Joaquin Correa are fit for next Sunday’s Serie A clash with Empoli.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that Mkhitaryan will not start the match, however.
Inter have been without a number of players due to injury in recent weeks.
Apart from third-choice goalkeeper Raffaele Di Gennaro, there were four absences against both Venezia and Bologna.
These were midfielders Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Hakan Calhanoglu, defender Yann Bisseck, and forward Joaquin Correa.
According to the Corriere, there would be no hope whatsoever for Calhanoglu or Bisseck to return to fitness in time for Inter’s next match.
The Nerazzurri host Empoli in Serie A this weekend.
Both Calhanoglu and Bisseck could return as early as Inter’s Champions League match against Monaco. Otherwise they’ll target the Milan derby next month.
However, two players will be back on Sunday against Empoli: Mkhitaryan and Correa.
However, the former won’t likely start.
The Corriere report that Inter will aim to ease Mkhitaryan back into the team. There’s no desire to rush him back.
Therefore, the Armenian will likely feature off the bench against Empoli. Then he should be ready to start against Sparta Prague next week.
