Former Juventus star Miralem Pjanic insists the Old Lady should sign Sandro Tonali: ‘The best Italian midfielder.’
Newcastle star Tonali has long been linked with a move to Juventus.
Sky Sport Italia has recently reported that the Italy international is the Old Lady’s top target for the summer of 2026, but according to ex-Juventus star Pjanic, the Bianconeri should sign the Italian sooner rather than later.
“Perhaps, they need something in the middle of the park. Somebody like Pjanic would help,” Pjanic said, smiling, during his latest interview with Tuttosport via Calciomercato.com.

“But I’ve retired now, so I’ll just enjoy my kid and be a father. I have no doubts, I’d sign Sandro Tonali right away. He’d be the perfect element. This Juventus side need somebody like him in the middle of the park. Tonali has strength, personality; he reads the game well and knows how to build up from the back. It would be a great coup for Juventus. As of today, he’s the best Italian midfielder.”

Pjanic won four Serie A titles at Juventus before joining Barcelona in a swap deal involving Arthur in 2020.
The former Juventus and Roma star played under Luciano Spalletti in the capital and is not surprised to see Juventus’ positive results in recent weeks.

“The Juventus comeback does not surprise me at all. On the contrary, I can say that I expected it after Spalletti’s arrival. Luciano makes the difference at this level,” he said.
“Juventus are improving game after game, so they should not set limits for themselves. All the top sides are quite close in the table, and when you play for Juventus, you must always aim for the top.”
Juventus have won seven of their last eight games across all competitions under Spalletti and are just one point below fourth-placed Roma in the Serie A table.
Their next match is at home against Lecce on January 3.
