Forward Joaquin Correa had to come off as a substitute during today’s Serie A clash between Inter Milan and Genoa.

Italian outlet FCInterNews report that the problem for the 30-year-old was a sprain to his left knee.

Forward Joaquin Correa started for Inter Milan in today’s Serie A clash with Genoa.

This was just the second start of the season for the former Lazio and Sevilla forward.

Correa partnered Inter captain Lautaro Martinez in attack. Martinez’s usual strike partner Marcus Thuram is out with injury, and Correa got the nod over the likes of Mehdi Taremi and Marko Arnautovic.

Joaquin Correa was not able to play for the second half of this evening’s match, however.

The problem for the Argentine became apparent around the 42nd minute of play.

Correa pulled up with some evident discomfort in his left leg. He briefly attempted to play on, but then made it clear that he would not be able to.

Therefore, at halftime, Mehdi Taremi came on as a substitute in place of Correa.

And according to FCIN, early assessments have revealed the nature of the problem for Correa.

The outlet report that the 30-year-old has suffered a sprain to his left knee.
