Matteo Darmian says that new Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu is “always looking for dialogue.”
The Italian international spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 win over Urawa Red Diamonds at the Club World Cup.
Cristian Chivu has managed to get his first win as Inter Milan coach.
It didn’t come easy against Urawa Red Diamonds.
The Nerazzurri had nearly all of the possession of the ball.
However, Inter conceded early on, with Ryoma Watanabe scoring after they were caught out completely on the break within the first fifteen minutes.
From then on, the pattern was clear. Urawa Reds dug in and defended their penalty area, whilst Inter tried to break them down.
That proved to be a very difficult task. The Japanese team defended with composure, physicality, and organization. They didn’t allow Inter any time or space to create telling chances.
In the end, it was Inter captain Lautaro Martinez who finally found the back of the net. And it was with Inter’s first shot on target of the match.
The Argentine scored with an acrobatic overhead kick from a corner.
And then, it proved to be substitute Valentin Carboni who was decisive. The 20-year-old scored in stoppage time to break Urawa hearts and give Inter a vital first win at the Club World Cup.

Inter Milan defender Matteo Darmian said that Chivu “has tried to bring in some new ideas that he believes in.”
“And we’ve made ourselves available to him,” continued the 35-year-old former Manchester United man.
“We try to improve and win.”
“On a personal level, he’s always looking for dialogue,” Darmian said of Chivu.
“Having been a great footballer, he knows how to create the right relationship that should exist between a player and coach.”
As far as what Inter said to each other at halftime against Urawa Red Diamonds, Darmian said “nothing in particularly.”
“Just to keep doing what we’d been doing. Maybe move the ball faster.”
“It wasn’t easy because they were all closing down the spaces behind the ball,” Darmian continued. “But we created chances, and then we managed to come back from a disadvantage that wasn’t deserved.
