A former Ballon d’Or winner when he played for Milan, George Weah admitted he ‘loves’ Juventus and ‘supports’ Tottenham as he spoke during the awards ceremony in Paris on Monday night, announcing Manchester City’s Rodri as the best player in the world.
The Liberian ex-player had stints both in Serie A and the Premier League, where he wore the shirts of Milan, Chelsea and Manchester City, although he conceded that he roots for different teams.
Weah spent four and a half seasons at the San Siro between 1995 and 2000, and he was named Ballon d’Or winner in 1995, the year that saw him leave Paris Saint-Germain to join the Rossoneri.
Weah took part in the 2024 Ballon d’Or’s awards ceremony as a presenter on Monday, revealing that Juventus were the team he ‘watched’ as a kid because of Michel Platini.
“When I was a kid, I watched Juventus play because of Platini,” he said, as quoted by TMW.
George Weah’s son Timothy joined the Bianconeri last summer from Lille and recently scored in the Derby d’Italia against Inter, which ended in a thrilling 4-4 draw.

The former player went on to indicate Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane as his favourite striker, also due to the fact that he used to play for Tottenham.
“There is a player I love,” Weah added, as reported by ESPN UK.
“Mr Kane, when he was playing for my team [Tottenham]. I’m a very big fan because I believe that he’s a very strong and very clever striker and I support the team Tottenham. I love him!”
