At the beginning of this week, Kelechi Iheanacho arrived at the club and officially began settling in as a Celtic player, getting to work on the Lennoxtown training ground.

And speaking in his first exclusive interview as a Celtic player, the striker expressed his delight at reuniting with his former manager, as well as new team-mate Kasper Schmeichel, who he also played with at Leicester City.

He told Celtic TV: “I know a couple of the guys, like Kasper who is a good friend. I played with him for a few years and I’m obviously familiar with some of the staff as well.

“It’s the same here as it was at Leicester, I found myself next to him in the changing room. It’s a bit of déjà vu. Kasper is a great and friendly guy. He is a great leader, and when he's back, I will get to see him.

“Brendan has been massive and really important in my career. Obviously he looked after me when I was at Leicester.

“He gave me the opportunity there to show my talent and to help the team. He is a great manager and a great person.

“I’m happy to play for him again. I’m happy to be a Celtic player and to play for this great club.”

Not only is Iheanacho familiar with his manager and some of his team-mates, but also Celtic as a club.

And arriving in Glasgow, the forward is looking forward to hopefully delivering further success for the Hoops.

“I have seen how many trophies the club has won,” he said. “It is a club that is used to winning trophies, and comfortable doing that.

“I want to join and win trophies here, so I am happy to be part of it and of course, to play my part to try and do that.

“I remember playing against Celtic in the Champions League. I scored for Manchester City, and obviously Patrick Roberts was playing for Celtic then. He scored that night too.

"And Celtic Park was so loud the night we played there. I can’t wait for that."
