An exclusive report has claimed that Chelsea are now back in for a striker who averages a goal every 82 minutes in the Premier League right now.

The Blues are working on some situations to get a new player or two in during this window that still has nine days left in it.

We have been seeing reports suggesting that Chelsea are contemplating making a move to sign Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, but nothing has yet moved on that one.

They should probably be looking to bring in a new striker, as that is a much more pressing position than a new winger at the club right now, despite the Mykhailo Mudryk situation being uncertain.

A winger could be sought in the summer, but Chelsea are in much bigger need of a new striker to come in and challenge Nicolas Jackson and give them a different option up top, a different profile of striker.

Could Jhon Duran be that player?

Our own writer Simon Phillips has an exclusive out this week on his Substack site.

He says:

‘SPTC Sources understand that yesterday, Chelsea held internal talks over moving back in for Jhon Duran of Aston Villa once again. There has also been new agent contact from Chelsea for Duran this week.

‘Our sources say that when Chelsea heard offers were made for Duran (we’ve heard big offers have been made by both West Ham and PSG this week), we approached his agents again to see what the situation was. Chelsea believed that if clubs are putting bids in then there’s obviously a chance that something can be done.

‘Duran was very close to joining Chelsea in the summer, with sources saying it was 99% done at one point. Concerns over his attitude and the overall cost is what stumbled the deal then.’
