An exclusive report claims that Chelsea now have new and firm interest in a 25-year-old midfielder from Newcastle United.
We are already into the January transfer window but things have been very quiet around Chelsea at least in terms of transfers in and out.
But maybe that is because all the noise has been around managers coming and going, because that has been anything but quiet. In fact, it has all blown up in the last week.
Enzo Maresca and Chelsea parted ways, and it all got pretty ugly after that. Chelsea’s owners have received a lot of criticism for this situation and for losing yet another manager in their short tenure so far.
And with Maresca now gone, it looks like Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior will be installed as the next Chelsea manger, moving from Chelsea’s sister club. Nothing is done there yet though of course, but he did appear to say his goodbyes to Strasbourg yesterday after seeing his side draw 1-1 with Nice.
But back to transfer talk now, and there is something to speak on there!

Chelsea are closely monitoring Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, sources have apparently told Football Insider.
Chelsea are apparently interested in Tonali for the summer of 2026 rather than in the current January transfer window, as they look to sure up their midfield moving forward.
I don’t know if the interest is true or not, but I can’t see Chelsea landing Tonali any time soon. I don’t think Newcastle would entertain selling him anyway, especially not for a fee that Chelsea would be comfortable paying.
