Spanish football gossip show El Chiringuito last night had an exclusive report that Chelsea striker Joao Pedro was going to tell the club that he wants to leave and join Barcelona.

The forward has been linked with the Spanish side a lot recently as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski. Speaking to him will be one of Xabi Alonso’s first duties as the new manager.

Chelsea could face pressure over top striker already

El Chiringuito is a joke of a programme and they often put out quite clearly made up stuff – but there’s also no doubt that they have people with good contacts at Real Madrid and Barcelona, and are happy to speak for them when the clubs want news out there.

We still have our doubts that Barcelona would be able to make a €100m bid for anyone, but they have have surprised us before with their transfers, and are about to lose one of their top earners – a striker. It looks like they’re going to put some pressure on us here.
