It was already expected that one of Liverpool's stars would leave the club this summer, and indeed the one who left was distinguished Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez, who received a lucrative contract with his new club, Saudi giants Al-Hilal, coached by Italian Simone Inzaghi.
To discuss this aspect, our website Foot Africa hosted a press interview with Egyptian social media influencer and sports activist Karim Gharib, asking him about his opinion on this new step in the player's career and its impact on Liverpool.
Q: Do you believe Darwin Núñez can be a major addition for Al-Hilal under Simone Inzaghi? And is he sufficient for their Saudi Pro League title challenge next season?
A: Núñez will undoubtedly add value, and I believe Simone Inzaghi could refine him into a better version. However, technically speaking, his issues weren't fundamental - they stemmed more from poor finishing and concentration in crucial moments, exacerbated by media and fan pressure. While he could still perform at a top European club, Saudi Arabia's financial package is understandably tempting.
Tactical Note: His predictable playing style could be problematic - opponents can easily set up counter-tactics, and his positioning often creates dangerous gaps between midfield and defense that disrupt team structure.

Q: Was Núñez's time at Liverpool successful, and should he have stayed longer in the Premier League? Or did he need a fresh start away from European pressures?
A: His Liverpool stint showed flashes of brilliance but ultimately fell short of expectations. While he could have developed further in England, the constant scrutiny clearly affected him. This move offers him a chance to reset in a less pressurized environment while securing financial stability.
Q: Looking ahead to Liverpool under Arne Slot - how do you assess their new signings and potential? Would these signings have made a bigger difference under Klopp?
