The Trotters could be left disappointed as a rival League One club are set to make a move for a transfer target
Huddersfield Town are making a late deadline day move to try and beat League One rivals Bolton Wanderers to a centre-forward signing, Football League World has been exclusively informed.
The Terriers are short on striker options under new head coach Liam Manning, who saw Joe Taylor leave for Wigan Athletic before his appointment at the Accu Stadium was confirmed, leaving Bojan Radulovic, Dion Charles and Alfie May to pick from.
And whilst Town are set to land young Swansea City striker Bobby Wales on loan for the remainder of the campaign, they are not stopping their in pursuit of new strikers.

Veteran Burnley centre-forward Ashley Barnes may have reportedly snubbed a move to Huddersfield, but FLW understands that the Terriers are now in for Wrexham striker Ryan Hardie ahead of the 7pm deadline.
Bolton have recently been linked with bringing the Scottish attacker into the club, with head coach Steven Schumacher knowing the 28-year-old well from his time as Plymouth Argyle manager.
Under Schumacher at the Pilgrims, Hardie's 13 goals helped the Devon outfit into the Championship in 2023 - a division he went on to score 22 times in for Argyle before their relegation back to League One last year.
A move to Wrexham last summer followed, but Hardie has struggled for game-time ahead of the likes of Kieffer Moore and Nathan Broadhead, featuring just 10 times in all competitions before he was sidelined in December with a knee injury.
The aforementioned Wanderers though have a new challenger for Hardie's services, with Huddersfield now looking to make their move for the out of favour Red Dragons forward before the transfer window slams shut.
It is unclear as to whether Wrexham would favour a loan departure or a permanent exit for Hardie, but manager Phil Parkinson is set to re-inforce his attacking unit ahead of Hardie's potential move away, with Sheffield Wednesday forward Bailey Cadamarteri pencilled in for a medical and FLW also exclusively revealing earlier on February 2 that they are progressing in talks to bring Davis Keillor-Dunn back to the Racecourse Ground in a transfer deal with Barnsley.
