Manchester United are looking to prolong their collaboration with Harry Maguire, who’s taking his time before giving a definitive answer.
The 32-year-old started his campaign on an expiring contract, and many at the time believed this could be his final season with the Red Devils, especially following his poor showings during Erik ten Hag’s reign at the club, which saw him lose the captain’s armband in favour of Bruno Fernandes.
Nevertheless, the arrival of Ruben Amorim coupled with the implementation of a three-man backline breathed a new life into the defender’s tenure at Old Trafford. He has now regained his starting pace at the heart of the backline, and has been hailed as ‘impeccable’ by former Man Utd defender John O’Shea who was left impressed by his solid display against Man City last December.

Maguire has also activated an automatic contract extension, pushing back the deadline until 2026. He admitted that the Portuguese manager played a significant role in his decision to exercise his renewal option.
But according to sources close to Stretty News, Man United are now keen to further extend Maguire’s deal until June 2027. The Reds are expected to part ways with Victor Lindelof and Johny Evans whose contracts will expire at the end of the season, but they want to secure the services of the England international for another two years.
However, our sources reveal that Maguire has yet to respond to this offer, as he has also received several other proposals, including two from the Premier League, another two from the Saudi Pro League, in addition to a suitor in Serie A.
Therefore, the former Leicester star has decided to delay his decision until the end of the season, as he prefers to focus on finishing United’s disappointing campaign in the best possible fashion, before turning his attention towards his future in June.
