Recently, Barcelona sporting director Deco gave an interview, where he discussed the club’s upcoming transfer window. One of the topics was the future of the club’s central defenders.
When asked specifically about Andreas Christensen, Deco stated that Barcelona have five centre-backs and that one is surplus to requirements – comments widely interpreted as an open door for the Danish defender to leave.
However, according to information shared on Que t’hi Jugues today, Andreas Christensen is determined to stay at Barcelona.
The Danish centre-back has one year remaining on his contract, and his intention is to see it out. In fact, he has already turned down offers from Saudi Arabia and rejected a move to Juventus in January.

Sources close to the player have also claimed that Christensen and his family are very happy in Barcelona, and he is pleased with the treatment he has received from both the club and the fans.
Although injuries limited his playing time this season, Christensen performed well when he was available towards the end of the season.
As such, the Danish international intends to continue working hard in order to earn more minutes next season under Hansi Flick, according to those in his inner circle.
This could put a spanner in the works as far as Barcelona’s plans are concerned as they need to finalise some exits to free up space on the salary bill to ensure smooth registrations of new signings.
In case Christensen holds firm on his stance, Ronald Araujo could become a candidate for departure, given that his release clause will be set at €65 million for the first two weeks of July.
