The extra registration window for players who featured in state competitions closes on Friday, after a 23-day period that began on the fourth of March.

According to Meu Timao, Corinthians are pushing to secure a loan for 22-year-old forward Renê, a standout for Portuguesa in the Paulistão, and are awaiting the Canindé club’s response. If given the green light, they must complete his registration in the CBF system before the deadline.

The proposal is for a loan without a release payment, with Corinthians covering only a so-called showcase fee and retaining a pre-agreed percentage of any future sale.

Portuguesa initially prioritised a permanent transfer, setting an internal valuation of 750,000 euros, around R$ 4.5 million, for 80% of the striker’s economic rights.

A timely conclusion to this, or any other incoming, is considered unlikely. Finances are the main obstacle, with the club cutting costs and avoiding direct outlay at present.

Corinthians are also assessing a possible loan exit for Pedro Raul after enquiries from Série A sides, with Vitória among the interested. The forward wants to remain at a leading Série A club, so a departure now is likewise seen as difficult.

Meanwhile, the squad continue work at their training base during the FIFA window. Dorival Júnior’s team are due back on the first of April against Fluminense at 21:30 at the Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, in the ninth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
