FA figures show Sunderland’s spending on agent fees rose fivefold after promotion to the Premier League. The data covers the two windows since winning promotion at Wembley and places their outlay among the division’s smallest.
The release spans February 2025 to February 2026, reflecting the club’s major summer rebuild and agreements concluded across the year.
Only Burnley and Everton spent less on intermediaries. Leeds United’s total was higher than Sunderland’s despite both clubs coming up together.
Clubs around them in the table reported far larger sums, with Bournemouth, Brighton and Newcastle United all well ahead. Chelsea topped the league’s spending.
Across the period Sunderland completed 17 signings. The totals also include fees linked to renewals for Trai Hume, Eliezer Mayenda, Luke O’Nien and Chris Rigg. Any transaction involving an FA-registered intermediary is captured.
