In a video on his Youtube channel, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman this summer. Romano said, “Let’s see what’s going to happen, guys, because Lookman could be an option for English clubs. At the moment, still nothing advanced, but for example, the agents of Lookman always gave priority to Inter, but now with Inter no longer being in the race, Premier League clubs could be attentive.

“So, for example, let’s see what happens at Arsenal. Arsenal are very happy with the squad they have right now up front. In terms of age, probably Lookman is not exactly the profile of player that Arsenal usually sign.

“But maybe if Trossard decides to leave in the final weeks, that could be an opportunity.

“So, let’s see what’s going to happen. But Lookman could be an interesting name for these final weeks for Premier League clubs.”

Lookman’s Good Record In Italian Football

Lookman enjoyed a good run of form at the Italian club recently after he produced a run of impressive displays for them in the final third. The Nigerian talent scored 20 times and picked up seven assists in 40 matches for Atalanta last season across multiple competitions.

The 27-year-old did well to average 3.24  shots per 90 minutes in Serie A. He kept 39.5% of his attempts on target. However, Lookman needs to improve his ball distribution, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 72.5% in the Italian top flight (stats via fbref.com).

Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Bring Lookman On Board This Summer?

Lookman is a good dribbler with the ball and can create a few meaningful chances for his teammates to score. He can strike the ball with power from long range and has proven himself to be a consistent goal-scorer in Serie A.

However, the jury is still out on whether Lookman can maintain his good form in the Premier League if the Gunners manage to snap him up this summer.

Lookman would bring more quality and depth to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s frontline. He is good enough to serve as an ideal back-up to Viktor Gyokeres at the North London club.

At 27, Lookman is playing in his prime, so the Gunners would be wise to bring him on board before the end of this transfer window.
