After a slow period in Liverpool’s summer transfer window, things might be about to heat up.
The Reds’ interest in PSG forward Bradley Barcola has been no secret and today they have received a huge boost in their pursuit of the 23-year-old.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on the situation, which has Liverpool fans on the edge of their seats…
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano said: “Liverpool want Barcola. The player is open to joining. He is attracted by the Liverpool project and feels it is the perfect club for him.”
“Paris Saint-Germain will ask for big money. I’m not sure it will be €170m. I will tell you what I know and what I know is that it’s probably not going to be that.”
“It’s on Liverpool. Why are they waiting? Because this depends on the final indication from PSG on the price. As soon as they know, the situation will develop.”
This is a hugely positive update. With Real Madrid pushing to beat PSG in the race for Yan Diomande, a move for Barcola could’ve been put in doubt.
Romano also confirmed that Barcola will not be signing a new contract at PSG, making an exit this summer even more likely.
Liverpool were always going to strengthen their attacking depth this season and Mohamed Salah’s exit has only deepened the need for reinforcements.
Victor Munoz has already arrived from Osasuna for around £34m, but Liverpool are still desperate to make Barcola their marquee signing of the summer.
Despite not having an abundance of minutes last season, Barcola still managed 13 goals and seven assists. He then was a standout performer for France at the World Cup, where he scored three goals and notched an assist.
Any move will be expensive, but very much needed for the current squad.
