Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is the man who never sleeps, and he put out his latest info on Jeremy Jacquet to Chelsea over night.
It’s the big Chelsea transfer story of this January window so far, with The Blues looking to get a deal tied up to sign the rising French centre back from Rennes this month.
Romano had the latest out on what is happening with transfer negotiations, with Chelsea’s directors out in France now looking to get a fee agreed with the French side.

In quotes picked up on X, Romano said:
“Not an easy negotiation between Chelsea and Rennes for Jacquet. Rennes want really important money as they believe he’s one of the best young defenders in the world. New contacts this week to try get closer to final price and structure. Rosenior approved it.
“Chelsea owners and directors are involved working on the Jacquet deal. Rennes want to go over the Doku sale, which means their request is 70m euros.”
That equates to around £60.7m. Seems like a lot of money. But I believe Chelsea will be paying slightly less than that and will pay a lower base fee and have a favourable structure for them.
Former Chelsea player and manager Ruud Gullit has been questioning whether Chelsea is the right club for the development of fellow Dutch man Jorrel Hato, in some rare comments from the former midfield player.
And a reminder as we head back to the main story for the this one. Chelsea have already agreed personal terms with Jeremy Jacquet ahead of trying to agree the fee. So that side is all done and dusted.
