PSG are expected to be in the market for a center-back this summer, and one name on their radar is Bournemouth standout Illya Zabarnyi. But landing the Ukrainian defender won’t be straightforward.
Last year, PSG leaned into youth with the additions of Lucas Beraldo and Willian Pacho, and that strategy could carry over into this transfer window. While the summer window is still a couple of months away, rumors are already picking up speed.
In May, Sky Sport Switzerland linked PSG with Zabarnyi and Club Brugge’s Joel Ordoñez as potential targets. However, bringing in Zabarnyi could depend on how things unfold elsewhere in the squad.
One factor that could shape the club’s transfer plans is the future of Matvey Safonov. With Gianluigi Donnarumma potentially solidifying his role as the long-term No. 1, Safonov might be on the move—either through a sale or a loan.
If PSG can clear out some space in the goalkeeper hierarchy, it could strengthen their case to convince Zabarnyi.

On Tuesday, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano provided the latest regarding the Parisians‘ have already opened talks with Bournemouth over a potential move for Zabarnyi.
Luis Campos has been tracking the Ukrainian defender for years and is now pushing to bring him to Paris. PSG do have backup options, though. The club have two other center-backs on their shortlist in case Bournemouth decide not to sell.
PSG face a challenge in securing the talented defender, as The iPaper reported that Zabarnyi, a serious target for Newcastle and admired by Manchester City, is believed to have a starting price tag of around £50 million.
