In November, Olympique Lyonnais found itself in a tough spot after facing scrutiny from the DNCG (Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion), which dealt a serious blow to the club’s finances. Despite this, a January fire sale doesn’t appear to be imminent.

While Lyon does need to offload players to address its financial troubles, the club is determined to hold out for reasonable offers. The looming threat of relegation to Ligue 2 only adds to the urgency of finding solutions.

Rayan Cherki and Malick Fofana are among the players who could leave, though likely for less than their market value. Cherki’s contract extension in September, which runs for two more years, gives Lyon some leverage. Still, a January transfer remains a possibility, as reported by L’Équipe.

Cherki has openly expressed his dream of playing for Real Madrid, but he’s also on the radar of Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, keeping his future in the spotlight.

According to Foot Mercato, PSG are actively pursuing Cherki for a January move. However, they face stiff competition from Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen, both keen to land the talented playmaker. Lyon has reportedly set his asking price at €30 million.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that PSG will not be signing Cherki this January and the capital club has opted against a move due to complicated relationships between the parties involved.

Meanwhile, The Sun noted that PSG and Borussia Dortmund are competing with Crystal Palace for Cherki, while The Athletic revealed that West Ham’s sporting director, Tim Steidten, has been closely monitoring the 20-year-old.
