With sales skyrocketing since last Wednesday, Lamine Yamal has claimed a legendary record with his number 10 jersey.

By extending his contract with FC Barcelona until 2031, Lamine Yamal also changed his shirt number. The Spanish sensation moves from "19" to the iconic "10" once worn by Lionel Messi. The result is historic. The Spanish prodigy's new shirt has become the best-selling item in a single day in the history of Barça's official stores.

Shops were on the verge of selling out, but the club itself assured fans that the planned quantities were enough to keep the shirt available at all points of sale. According to the website Culemanía, kit manufacturer Nike, in charge of producing and distributing the Blaugrana shirts, had ordered an initial global shipment of 70,000 jerseys, with 30 pallets of 2,300 units each, to be distributed across 170 countries.

The initial expected revenue was around ten million euros, driven by fairly high retail prices. The kids’ version costs €114.99, while the adult shirt is priced at €134.99. A pro version, identical to the one worn by Yamal himself, is sold for €184.99.
