FC Bayern Women overcame the second hurdle on the way to their title defence in the DFB Cup! Coach José Barcala’s side progressed to the quarter-finals with a comfortable 3-0 win away to FC Ingolstadt 04 on Sunday afternoon. The cup holders will find out their opponents in the last eight on 7 December at 19:15 CET.
Following a goalless first half, Barbara Dunst broke the deadlock in the 50th minute on her first start for the club. Lea Schüller made it 2-0 seven minutes later, before Natalia Padilla-Bidas added a third in stoppage time.

FC Bayern Women never looked in danger in their DFB Cup last-16 tie against Ingolstadt.
It was one-way traffic from the start, although the deep-lying hosts got bodies behind the ball and made it difficult for Bayern to break through. Stefanie Reischmann almost headed Katharina Naschenweng’s cross into her own net, before Giulia Gwinn curled a free kick wide of the target. Clear-cut chances were in short supply in the first half but Jovana Damnjanović had the best of them in the 35th minute, when she hit the post from close range. Four minutes later, Schüller set up the Serbian again, but this time Anna-Lena Daum saved to keep the score level at the break.

Captain Glódís Perla Viggósdóttir leads the way for FC Bayern in the clash with FC Ingolstadt 04.
It only took five minutes after the restart for the hosts’ resistance to be broken by an impressive solo effort from full debutant Dunst. And the visitors were celebrating again seven minutes later as Schüller headed Gwinn’s cross into the right corner. Substitute Padilla-Bidas nearly made it three in the 68th minute, but Daum reacted well. Barcala’s side didn’t ease off and there was also good news for 17-year-old Marie Gmeineder, who made her first-team debut in the closing stages. The last word then went to Padilla-Bidas, who finished off another Gwinn delivery with virtually the last kick of the match.

Full-back Giulia Gwinn was a constant threat to the Ingolstadt goal, not just through set pieces.
The games keep coming for the defending double winners. On Thursday 20 November, FCB travel to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Kick-off is at 21:00 CET at Parc des Princes. Three days later, it’s back on the road against TSG Hoffenheim in the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga on Sunday 23 November at 15:30 CET.
