Federico Chiesa gets a fresh start

The 28-year-old joined the Anfield side back in 2024 from Juventus for a £12.5m fee. He has been unable to make a name for himself so far - although he can claim to be a Premier League winner following his exploits in 2024/25.

Chiesa has consistently been linked with a move back to Serie A since he joined the Reds - with Juventus and Como among the top-flight sides interested in securing his signature.

Liverpool have already got rid of Mohamed Salah from their attack and it was initially expected that Chiesa would follow suit.

Nonetheless a goalscoring performance against Sunderland had Chiesa speaking about a new chapter.

Chiesa not currently minded to move back to Italy

And now a report from Sport Virgilio is claiming that the winger has made up his mind on his Liverpool future.

Rather than seeking a return to Italy it looks as though the Euro 2020 winner has got his heart set on winning over Iraola in preseason and beyond.

“He currently doesn't seem inclined to leave England to return to Serie A, despite Juventus and Como continuing to monitor the situation with the idea of ​​offering him a new opportunity, which would also be valuable for the national team,” the report reads.

Versatile Chiesa can still be an asset for Liverpool

Chiesa is a versatile player - usually lining up on the right side of the attack but someone who can also play in different roles up front.

Given Liverpool’s current shortages at No9 - where Chiesa has previously filled in - he would be a useful candidate to keep around until January at least.

It’s been reported that Liverpool are seeking to make their money back on Chiesa in the form of a deal worth around €15m.

Combined with the player’s wages - around £150k per week - it would prove to be a very expensive operation for a Serie A side.
