According to Meu Timao, Fernando Diniz trialled midfielders André Carrillo and Raniele at right-back in Friday's training at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava, as Corinthians prepare to host Vasco da Gama on Sunday at 16:00 at Neo Química Arena in the 13th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

The role is usually filled by Matheuzinho, who is suspended after his red card in the derby with Palmeiras on 12 April.

Although specialist right-backs are available, including Uruguay's Pedro Milans after a left ankle injury and under-20 prospect João Vitor Jacaré, Diniz has signalled a preference for a more adaptable option.

Carrillo has already covered the position under Diniz, including against Palmeiras and Vitória. After the match at Barradão, the coach said that choice was circumstantial, highlighted Carrillo's versatility and experience at full-back, and noted he had trained there.

Sunday's meeting will be the final game of Matheuzinho's ban, with the STJD having reduced it from four to two matches. He missed the previous round and will be available for the next fixture, against Mirassol.

Corinthians head into the Itaquera clash under pressure, winless in nine league games, a run not seen since 2024. They sit 17th with 12 points.
