According to L'Équipe, FIFA has granted an exemption allowing Scotland supporters to wear their traditional sporran with kilts at this summer's World Cup.

FIFA has confirmed sporrans will be permitted in stadiums, subject to standard search and inspection procedures.

A sporran is a belt-worn pouch that compensates for the lack of pockets in a kilt.

Organisers had initially considered the item too large for the stands under bag security rules.

Thousands of fans are expected in the United States as Scotland return to the World Cup after 28 years. They will meet Haiti then Morocco in Boston, before facing Brazil in Miami.
