FIFA has begun its inspection tour of Spain’s candidate venues for the 2030 World Cup, opening in Barcelona with stadium and training-site checks.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Spain will co-host with Portugal and Morocco, with centenary matches also planned in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

The first stop on Monday covered the Spotify Camp Nou and the RCDE Stadium. The delegation travels to Zaragoza on Tuesday, then Madrid on Wednesday, coinciding with Real Madrid against Manchester City.

The FIFA working group, accompanied by the Real Federación Española de Fútbol, is set to meet representatives of the Government of Spain and clubs in candidate cities during the tour.

Assessments focus on stadium safety, VIP offerings and media work areas for accredited press, alongside available training facilities. In Barcelona, the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper and Espanyol’s Dani Jarque were visited.

In Madrid on Wednesday, RFEF president Rafael Louzán is due to receive the delegation, which is working closely with FIFA to meet tournament requirements. Attention is also on two venues vying to stage the final, the Spotify Camp Nou and the Santiago Bernabéu.
